Projects, projects, projects...
I have not posted anything on my blog for sometime...been working hard but you will have to wait to see what I have been doing...
My brother has been pestering me to write something, however rather than talk about my work (something I am always reluctant to do) I thought I would mention a project idea I have come across ( from Jim Brandenburg's book Chased by the Light.)
"Take one picture a day - BUT only one exposure, no second chances - over 90 days."
Tough but it will make you think
More later, Uisdean

On Photography...
My retreat up in Skye has nearly finished, as with most holidays it has been taken up with meditation and reading.
The main question is the role of my art within the new political landscape that the Tory government is engineering. The art industry will change, returned to a wilderness devoid of funding. Artists need to become wanderers, take their art to the people and celebrate their labour. Artists need to engage with the reality and normality of life - engage with the real powers that stalk our land. This story telling will not be simple or easy.
My personal brief is to look at Spirituality and Masculinity, to find exemplars of Masculinity and attempt to answer the question what is masculinity?
I have alway be drawn by people in the landscape, I feel that is the folk that give the land it's physically. So I want to photograph the men of the land, the real Iron Johns who function in remote places. Perhaps then I can identify the actions that define them - their Rites of Passage - and in doing that move towards seeing the Landscape as a spiritual experience.
